For some reason, I just can’t quite get into listening to podcasts, and these days it’s pretty hard to have more screen time watching something on YouTube or another website. Engaging with words is fuel for the mind and soul. It’s: Rest + Escapism, Entertainment + Interest, Growth + Knowledge, Inspiration…and so on. Personally, I prefer books—paper books, and yes, I am conscious of the environmental impact this is important. You will find that my personal tastes have a strong interest towards cats and people. But what about you?
How do you engage with words? Visually, auditory, or tactile? Listening? Writing?
What books are your personal favorites to: intrigue you, entertain you, inspire you, grow your mind, expand your perception of the world?
Here are a few books I have read this past year that I highly recommend engaging with:
Burning Sugar: Poems by Cicely Blain Belle
Fierce Femmes and Notorious Liars: A Dangerous Trans Girl’s Confabulous Memoir by Kai Cheng Thom
The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide
How to be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi
If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura
Which books do you recommend?
Here Together,
Lauren
